Rachael Savage is an Associate in the Immigration Practice Group, where she focuses on post-order immigration relief, including appeals, motions to reopen and reconsider, and criminal post-conviction and coram nobis matters. She offers clients a distinctive perspective shaped by her experience within the federal immigration court system and her background in both immigration and criminal law.

Rachael is known for her thoughtful, strategic advocacy and deep commitment to defending the rights of immigrants navigating complex legal proceedings. Fluent in Spanish, she is particularly attuned to the linguistic and cultural nuances of working with diverse client populations.

Before joining ZA, Rachael served as an Attorney Advisor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). In that role, she supported Immigration Judges in the Aurora, Colorado and Baltimore, Maryland Immigration Courts by conducting legal research and drafting decisions in removal cases involving complex legal and factual issues.

Rachael earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. During law school, she was a Student Attorney in the Immigration Clinic, representing individuals in removal proceedings. She also worked as a Research Assistant to Professor David Gray, focusing on criminal law and constitutional issues. She was admitted to the Maryland bar in 2022.

Prior to law school, Rachael worked in Washington, D.C., where she helped develop policy for a national trade association. She holds a B.A. from Clemson University, where she graduated cum laude with a double major in Spanish Language and Women’s Leadership.
